The game eschews a specific narrative theme, instead offering players an open-world sandbox experience centered around exploration and discovery. Players assume the roles of explorers separated after a spaceship crash, tasked with navigating and understanding their alien surroundings. The vast and interconnected landscape, presented through a unique card-based system, fosters a sense of both individual agency and collaborative necessity. Gameplay in Vantage revolves around a deck of four hundred location cards, each connected to others, creating a sprawling map. Players manage their individual explorations using a first-person perspective, revealed through the cards in their hand, while simultaneously cooperating to achieve shared objectives. Communication and strategic resource management (represented by metal coins) are vital, as players are physically separated and have limited knowledge of each others’ positions and discoveries within the expansive world.
